IIt’s very easy in 2026 to record and video your show without the need for buying in a broadcasting team.
We all carry around 4k broadcasting equipment in our pockets - that’s easy - but getting quality audio to your stream…? That requires a little more thinking. And let’s not pretend that phono captured audio is good - it isn’t, in any way, useful for representing the sound of your show or band properly!
And it’s not actually that difficult. In addition to the desk you’re likely using for your PA, whether you’re in a bar, a theatre, or a concert hall, all you need is a simple 2 channel audio interface.
Simply connect from your desk to the L + R on the audio interface, connect it to your Phone/Tablet, and start broadcasting! You’ll be sending out 1080p or 4k video, along with a hi-res, full quality, audio stream.
That’s the simple explanation. Going a little further down the rabbit hole, you’ll need to consider that the Interface needs to be compatible with iOS or Android; you;ll need to consider what you’re sending in terms of mix; gain staging; etc.
It can also be useful to have a second engineer working on the ‘broadcast mix’ if you have those resources. It could be that the Monitoring Engineer also keeps an ear on the Broadcast mix as they’re bouncing between the various IEM mixes.
If you’d like more information on how to set up a broadcasting system for your show, and with your equipment, we can give private consultations with you or your engineer.
